Apparel and shoes
Counterfeit products are rampant in the footwear and apparel markets, with millions of illegal sales taking place every year. This not only deprives the government of taxes but also negatively affects consumers in terms of quality and service, while damaging the brands themselves. Serialization and Track&Trace focus on these issues, driven not just by regulations but also by businesses seeking to protect their brands. While only a few countries have currently introduced Serialization and Track&Trace regulations, they tend to be relatively straightforward. As consumer-oriented markets with high importance of loyalty of the consumers, the footwear and apparel markets are pioneers in leveraging direct-to-consumer communication and marketing benefits associated Serialization and Track&Trace.

Kvinta requests, provides, and stores these unique identifiers and communicates with the respective regulator. Serialization of shoes and apparel is very close to each other and was introced in 2020 and 2021 accordingly. Similarly to other product categories, traceability regulation for shoes and apparel in Russia is based on the principles of GS1, but has its own peculiarities that complicate implementation. Unlike medicinal products, which are marked without exception, the nessasity of marking clothing and footwear is determined by its code number for foreign economic activity. The huge number of trade items associated with different sizes, colors, designs, etc., has necessitated the creation of a national catalog that includes a detailed description for each trade item - its digital passport. Another specificity of this product category id that marking code can be applied directly to the product or to the consumer packaging, label, and even the tag. Requirements also take into account the existence of various sets and kits comprising multiple items. Due to the long turnover time of light industry goods and significant stock volumes, the legislation provides for a transitional period during which previously imported goods may be sold, and a mechanism for marking the remaining inventory in warehouses.
